AAE 290. Political Economy of Racism

A study of the role of racism in the development of American capitalism. Examination of the impact of racism on the distribution of income, wealth, and economic opportunity. Analysis of the role of racism in the economics of historical experiences such as slavery, Reconstruction, migration and urbanization, as well as in its role in the economics of contemporary business cycles and of on-going long term transformations of both the American and global economies. Prerequisite: English 101. In addition: Economics 101 or 102.
