AAH 270. The History of African-American Social and Intellectual Thought

An historical survey of the principal ideas, ideologies, and intellectual currents in the African-American community including the shifting emphases on assimilation, Pan-Africanism, and nationalism. Major organizations and movements and key individuals who have shaped African-American thought. Examination of the impact of these ideas on American thought and culture. (Not offered 2005-2007.)
Prerequisite: English 101 and Ethnic Studies 123.
