AAS 121. African-American Community Issues

An introduction to the origins and development of urban African-American communities. An exploration of the historical effects of racial isolation on community building and examination of selected contemporary socioeconomic issues with respect to such areas of concern as housing, education, welfare, the African-American family, crime and the criminal justice system. (Offered Fall 2005 and Spring 2007.)
