ECO 102. Economics for Public Administrators

This course presents an overview of macroeconomics--the study of national economic activity and policies influencing employment, price levels, and gorwth. National-income concepts and forecasting are strressed. The primary focus oft he coure is microeconomic: decision making and policy at the level of individual eocnomic units. The course examines the work of markets and the effects of governmental activity on economic performance an well being. Cost, productivity, and efficiency are critical economic concepts. The course objectives are: 1) to impart an understanding of the economic background to public activity and policy; 2)to impart an understanding of basic tools used in managing and controlling economic activity. Introductory course intennded for majors in government and public administration. Satisfies the social science requirement; students will not receive credit for both Economics 101 and 102. (Not offered 2005-2007.)
