Course develops skills necessary to write effective investigative reports in the criminal justice system and elsewhere in the public sector. Focus is on practice in the components of investigative report writing: identification of the investigative purpose; identification of personal and cultural preconceptions that might compromise objectivity; note taking, selection of details, narration, observation and description, and interviewing. Students produce a final report on an investigative target of their choice. (Offered Spring 2006.) |
