ENG 350. Public Relations Writing

Introduction to the basic techniques of public relations and publicity writing as they are applied in criminal justice and other public service organizations. Hands-on practice in writing press releases, fact sheets, flyers, bios, statements, and video and audio scripts. Instructions in establishing contacts with the media. Consideration of honesty and integrity in public relations practices. Students will create a complex PR campaign for a cause or program sponsored by a real-world public service agency. (Not offered 2005-2007.)
Prerequisite: English 102. In addition: a minimum of 6 credits at the 200 level in English or the social sciences or public administration or criminal justice.
