Study of the many peoples who have contributed to the fashioning of American civilization from 1500 to the present. Survey of historical and contemporary issues related to racial, ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity in the United States through an examination of such concepts as assimilation, discrimination, integration, pluralism, racism, segregation. (Registration is through the Department of African-American Studies or the Department of Puerto Rican/Latin American Studies.) (Offered every semester) |
