PSY 235. Social Psychology and the Criminal Justice System
An examination of the criminal justice system from the perspective of social psychology. The course will consider the application of social psychological theories and research to topics such as: crime reporting and eyewitness testimony; police decisions to arrest; pretrial procedures and the trial process; jury selection and deliberation; sentencing and parole; and negotiation and bargaining. The course will focus on decision making within the criminal justice system. (Not offered 2005-2007.)
Prerequisite:
English 101 and Psychology 101. Recommended but not required: Criminal Justice 101 or Law 206.
