SOC 335. Migration and Crime

This course asks what changes take place when a population moves from a rural to an urban area, from one country to another, and from a preindustrial to an industrial society. Theories of the links of migration with crime and entrepreneurship are tested for both past and current immigrant groups. The subeconomies and subcultures that immigrants create are also considered. (Offered spring semesters.)
