SOC 480. Dispute Resolution and the Legal System

This course will focus on critical issues in the emerging field of dispute resolution including such topics as disputants, voluntary vs. mandatory participation in alternative processes, the ethicalissues of third-part intervention, cross-cultural communication, and the appropriate application of alternative methods vs. adjudication. Students are encouraged to confront issues that practicing professionals in the field of dispute resolution are currently debating. (Not offered 2005-2007.)
Prerequisite: Sociology 101 and 206.
