SPA 340. Court Interpreting and Translation

The course is designed to teach simultaneous and consecutive interpretation of Spanish into English and vice versa at arraignments, preliminary hearings, pretrial motions, trials, and other court proceedings; transcription of oral taped records, and translation of technical, medical, and legal documents and correspondence. The class will attend appropriate civil, criminal, and family court proceedings and will practice interpretation and translation in a simulated courtroom setting. (Offered Fall 2004.)

 

Prerequisite: English 102 . In addition: Spanish 212 or permission of the section instructor.
